In connection with the year 5 topic on space, on Thursday 9th May, Heartsease hosted a ‘pop-up planetarium’. We were joined by Year 5 classes from all the other trust schools. Children were taken on a spectacular journey through our solar system, from the Sun way out to Neptune, and beyond. Most children had not been in a planetarium before and they loved the experience, as well as learning a great deal. We’d like to thank Miss Williams at Lingwood for arranging this exciting event.
Look out for our ‘Bagel Stop ‘n Grab’ being launched at school this Thursday 2nd May. Our ‘Breakfast Monitors’ will be out at the front of the school from 8.05am – 8.25am with bagels for the pupils to eat, as part of the National Schools Breakfast Programme. Each child will be given a ‘bagel pass’ which they must show to get a piece of bagel, so please look after the passes. Please let the office know if your child has any allergies which we are not already aware of or if you DO NOT want your child to take part.
See the attached letter for more information.
A GB athlete will be visiting our pupils at Heartsease Primary on Tuesday 30th April.
We are delighted to confirm that British BMX World cup Freestyler Emma Finnegan will be coming into school to share her inspirational journey and future aspirations with everyone on Tuesday 30th April.
There will be a whole school assembly on Tuesday and then each year group will have a 30 minute workshop with Emma.
There are pictures and links below, if you ‘d like to find out more:-
In P.E. we are studying ‘Women’s Diversity’ and to inspire our children, we have a female Great Britain athlete visiting our school! She will present an assembly to the whole school, then spend some time doing workshops and answering Q and A time with each year group. This is a special treat for our pupils as she has taken time out of her busy training schedule for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to inspire Heartsease! To celebrate we will be having a ‘Wear your sports/p.e. kit to school Day’ that day and ask that each child brings in 50p. All the money raised will go towards the ‘Inspire Through Sport’, who support GB athletes. Please check out their website for more information:-
Thank you for your continued support; it is really appreciated.
