Welcome Dear Parents and Carers, It has been a great two weeks that have flown by at school. Attendance is holding steady at 95% but remember every moment counts and we need to keep on coming to school. Reading continues to be a priority this ½ term and I am pleased to note that our library is almost ready with the new books that arrived in September. We are currently finishing a number of assessments with the children so that every child is targeted even more closely with the correct support and materials to help them make rapid progress in reading. I will share more information with you as the new systems come online but I am excited that the children will be able to access even better reading material than before. I have had discussions with many parents regarding the new Attitudes to Learning policy and the changes that have been brought in, particularly around the fantastic walking. We will be surveying the pupils regarding this before the end of the half term and I will share the results with you. In the meantime, I wanted to share the impact that the new Attitudes to Learning policy has had on the school compared with the same period last academic year. Behaviour incidents have reduced by 85%. The number of pupils involved in behaviour events has reduced by 60%. The restorative approach based on our core values is also leading to less high-level incidents across the school. There are fewer children repeatedly getting involved in poor behaviours. This was further corroborated by our recent external SEN review who commented on the calm and positive environment in the school and the fact that the children were keen to talk through the core values of the school. Teamwork really does make the dreamwork! Thank you for your ongoing support. Kind regards Mr N Campbell

Welcome Dear Parents and Carers, It has been an excellent week at Heartsease. Attendance is up to 95.5% and it was great to see so many children receive our new "Improving Attendance" certificates on Friday afternoon. These certificates are for children who have improved their attendance consistently over a three week period and will be awarded every three weeks. Also I wanted to say a big thank you to all parents who have accepted the invitation over the last two weeks to attend school to be part of the celebration assembly. This week we will be continuing to prioritise our core values and in particular Kindness. We will be watching carefully to celebrate the children helping each other and encouraging each other. Thank you for your ongoing support. Kind regards Mr N Campbell

Welcome Dear Parents and Carers, It has been an excellent full week back at school with the children engaging fully in their lessons. The Attitudes to learning policy has been launched and is in full effect and can be found here . One of the small changes that has been introduced is that of "Fantastic Walking". This has already made a significant impact on the transitions around the school. Walking to break/lunch walking back to class and into assembly. You will also see on page 4 of the policy, the children who are achieving commendations at the end of each day can store these up and once they get to 50 they will receive a star that they can wear on their tie or polo shirt. This is another way to celebrate children who are making excellent choices in school. On page 9 you will also see that if children are going to receive an Attitudes to Learning Certificate (the old Bees Knees) then we are inviting parents/carers in on a Friday afternoon to join in the celebration. We have also been joined this week by colleagues from the Unity School Partnership to review different curriculum elements to ensure that every moment available for learning is maximised. The children have done so well and I am excited to see what we can celebrate over the coming weeks. Thank you for your ongoing support. Kind regards Mr N Campbell
