In year 3, we were looking at traditional tales. We noticed that lots of traditional tales take place in castles. We wondered what it would be like to live in a castle, so we did some research then designed our own.
We wanted to know how shadows are formed. On a sunny day, we took some chalk to the playground. We noticed that all of the shadows went the same direction. Ollie said that we block the sun and that’s why we have shadows. After that, we took to our classroom for another investigation. We looked at how a shadow changes depending on how close its object is to the light source. What do you think we found out?
After learning about light and shadows, we wanted to tell the story of The Gingerbread Man using shadow puppets. It was a very successful production.
